• No Way! Fight against the National Defense Authorization Act

  President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into law. It contains a sweeping worldwide indefinite detention provision.

  The dangerous new law can be used by this and future presidents to militarily detain people captured far from any battlefield. He signed it. Now, we have to fight it wherever we can and for as long as it takes.

  Sign NNAAC's pledge to fight worldwide indefinite detention for as long as it takes.

• Thanks for Proposing Positive Immigration Changes

  Dear Governor Snyder,

  Thank you for your commitment to positive immigration changes. Your announcement last week regarding series of proposals to make it easier for immigrant entrepreneurs to earn a visa by investing in Michigan and creating jobs is greatly welcomed and appreciated.

  The current inflexible immigration laws are hindering Michigan’s potential growth. The proposed changes, specifically EB-5 investor visa program and the student visa programs, will immensely benefit our great state and its economy. As you pointed out, retaining and attracting the best possible talent from around the world will fuel faster growth, and help secure and create jobs for Michigan residents.

• Tell Your Reps to SAVE SERVICE NOW!

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              On September 29th, The House Appropriations Committee released the Fiscal Year 2012 funding bill. The bill will devastate the Corporation for Community and National Service and eliminate a significant number of its essential programs. We can not let that happen!

  The draft legislation includes just $280 million for the Senior Corps programs and to accommodate the "orderly elimination of other programs" at CNCS.   This bill will shut down the entire Corporation for National and Community Service and eliminate AmeriCorps, the Social Innovation Fund, the Volunteer Generation Fund, and Learn & Serve America.  If this bill passes, these cost-effective programs -- that fill the gap between the services state and local governments can provide and the supports citizens require -- will be gone.

  We at the National Network for Arab American Communities know the true value of National Service as we have seen its impact on thousands of low income communities across the country through our ARC program(Arab Resource Corps), a program of AmeriCorps where 75 members serve in Arab American communities in 11 cities! Times are getting tougher for our communities not easier and we need the Corporation for National and Community Service now more than ever!

• Demand the DOJ to Investigate the FBI

  Demand the Dept. Of Justice to Investigate the FBI for Their Use of Offensive Anti-Muslim Training Materials

  It has been made public that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”)  is using grossly inaccurate, inflammatory, and highly offensive
  counter-terrorism training materials about Muslims and Islam to train its agents and other law enforcement. These materials malign and disparage an entire faith community and their religious practice, in flagrant violation of the Department of Justice’s (“DOJ”) mandate to “ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans” and our country’s fundamental values of religious freedom and pluralism.
